The short version
- No accounts. None of our extensions ask you to sign up or sign in.
- No tracking or analytics. We do not collect browsing history, usage statistics, crash reports or advertising identifiers, in the extensions or on this website.
- Your data stays on your device. Settings and content are kept in your browser's local extension storage. We have no server that receives it.
- We never sell or share your data, because we do not have it.
This policy covers the TaskGo extensions listed below and the website at taskgo.ai. “TaskGo”, “we” and “us” mean the team that publishes them.
Our extensions
Every TaskGo extension stores what it needs using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API. That data lives in your Chrome profile on your computer. It is not synced to our servers (we do not run any for user data), and it is deleted when you remove the extension.
Where an extension can see a web page, it is because the feature needs it — to block ads, restyle a page, capture it or audit it. That access happens inside your browser. Page content, addresses and files are never transmitted to TaskGo.
We ask for as few permissions as possible and explain each one on the extension's page on this site and in the section below.
Announcement feed
The only network request our extensions make to us is a check, about every six hours, of a public file at https://taskgo.ai/announcements.json. It lists new TaskGo tools and updates, which the extension may show as a notification or in its “What's new” list. Clicking a notification opens the linked page.
This is a plain download of a static file. It carries no user ID, no settings and no information about what you browse. Like any web server, ours records standard access logs (IP address, time, browser user agent) for security and troubleshooting; see retention. You can turn these notifications off for any extension in Chrome's notification settings.
Extension by extension
Every extension also caches the announcement feed and the list of announcements already shown, so you are not notified twice.
Ads Blocker
Access to web pages: Blocking rules apply on every site, and a small content script hides the empty boxes ads leave behind. The script only changes how the page looks; it does not read, record or send page content.
Stored on your device:
- Whether blocking is on or off
- The list of sites you have paused
- Blocked-request counts shown on the badge
Network: Only the announcement feed described above.
Permissions:
declarativeNetRequest— Apply the blocking rule set and per-site allow rules.declarativeNetRequestFeedback— Count blocked requests for the toolbar badge.<all_urls>— Ads load on every site, so the rules must apply everywhere.storage— Remember the on/off state and your paused sites.alarms, notifications— Check the TaskGo announcement feed every 6 hours.
Dark Mode
Access to web pages: A content script restyles pages so they appear dark. It changes colours and fonts only; it does not read, record or send page content.
Stored on your device:
- Your global and per-site settings (brightness, contrast, fonts and similar), keyed by site hostname
Network: Only the announcement feed described above.
Permissions:
storage— Save your per-site and global settings on your device.activeTab— Know which site the popup is tuning.alarms, notifications— Check the TaskGo announcement feed every 6 hours.
File Drop
Access to web pages: None. File Drop runs in its own extension page and never touches the websites you visit.
Stored on your device:
- Nothing besides the cached announcement feed
Network: Besides the announcement feed:
- Files travel directly from the sender's browser to the receiver's browser over an encrypted WebRTC connection (DTLS). They are never uploaded to TaskGo or anyone else.
- The invite and reply codes contain the network addresses (IP addresses) each browser needs to reach the other. You choose who to share these codes with.
- To discover its public address, each browser contacts Google's public STUN server (stun.l.google.com). Google sees your IP address for that request, as with any website you visit; it never sees file names or contents.
Permissions:
storage— Cache the announcement feed for the What's new list.alarms, notifications— Check the TaskGo announcement feed every 6 hours.
Focus Mode
Access to web pages: When you block a site, requests to it are redirected to Focus Mode's own break page. The extension does not read the content of the sites you visit.
Stored on your device:
- Your blocklist
- Timer settings and the current timer state
- Daily focus statistics (session counts and minutes)
Network: Only the announcement feed described above.
Permissions:
declarativeNetRequest— Redirect blocked sites to the focus page.<all_urls>— Blocking has to apply to whichever sites you add.activeTab— Block the current site with one click.storage— Save your blocklist, timer settings and daily stats.alarms, notifications— Drive the timer and announce phase changes.
New Tab
Access to web pages: None. New Tab only replaces Chrome's new-tab page.
Stored on your device:
- Your name, theme and daily focus
- Your to-dos and quick links
Network: Besides the announcement feed:
- Quick-link icons come from Chrome's own local favicon cache, not from an external service.
Permissions:
storage— Save your name, theme, focus, to-dos and links.favicon— Show real site icons on quick-link tiles without an external service.alarms, notifications— Check the TaskGo announcement feed every 6 hours.
Page Capture
Access to web pages: Only the tab you click on, only when you click. It scrolls that page and takes screenshots of it, then shows the result in a viewer tab.
Stored on your device:
- Nothing from your captures — screenshots are held only while the viewer is open, and saving them is up to you
Network: Only the announcement feed described above.
Permissions:
activeTab— Screenshot only the tab you click on, only when you click.scripting— Inject the scroll helper and the area-select overlay into that tab.storage— Hand the captured screens to the viewer tab.alarms, notifications— Check the TaskGo announcement feed every 6 hours.
Print Friendly
Access to web pages: Only the tab you click on, only when you click. It extracts the article from that page for the print preview.
Stored on your device:
- The extracted article, briefly, to hand it to the preview tab — the preview deletes it as soon as it loads
Network: Only the announcement feed described above.
Permissions:
activeTab— Read the page you're printing, only when you click.scripting— Inject the extractor and the pick-and-remove picker.storage, unlimitedStorage— Hand large articles to the preview tab.alarms, notifications— Check the TaskGo announcement feed every 6 hours.
SEO Audit
Access to web pages: Only the tab you click on, only when you click. It reads that page's HTML, headings, links, images, meta tags, structured data and performance timings to grade it.
Stored on your device:
- Nothing from your audits — results live in the popup until you close it or export a PDF or Markdown report yourself
Network: Besides the announcement feed:
- All requests go to the site you are auditing, directly from your browser — nothing is sent to TaskGo. It re-requests the page itself (to read its HTTP status, headers and server HTML) and fetches /robots.txt, /sitemap.xml and /llms.txt.
- To find broken links it sends lightweight HEAD requests, without cookies, to up to 40 links on the same site. Links that look like actions (log out, cart, delete, download) are skipped.
- The Preview tab displays the page's own share image (og:image), which your browser loads from wherever the site hosts it.
Permissions:
activeTab— Audit only the tab you click on, only when you click.scripting— Inject the page collector.storage— Cache the announcement feed for the What's new list.alarms, notifications— Check the TaskGo announcement feed every 6 hours.
Tab Manager
Access to web pages: It reads the titles and addresses of your open tabs when you save them, so it can list and restore them. It never reads the contents of those pages.
Stored on your device:
- The titles, addresses and dates of the tab groups you save
Network: Only the announcement feed described above.
Permissions:
tabs— Read tab titles and URLs to save them, and reopen them on restore.storage, unlimitedStorage— Keep thousands of saved tabs on your device.alarms, notifications— Check the TaskGo announcement feed every 6 hours.
This website
taskgo.ai has no analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers and sets no cookies. If you switch between light and dark themes, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage and never sent to us. Fonts are bundled with the site, so loading a page does not contact Google Fonts or any other third party.
The contact form does not submit anything to a server. It opens your own email app with a pre-filled message; nothing is sent until you press send there.
When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it only to reply and to fix what you reported, and we delete it when it is no longer needed for that.
Sharing and selling
We do not sell, rent or trade personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. The use of information received through our extensions adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements: data is used only to provide each extension's single purpose, is not transferred to third parties, is not used for advertising or to determine credit-worthiness, and is not read by humans.
We may disclose information only if required by law, and only what we actually hold.
Security and retention
Because extension data stays on your device, it is protected by your operating system and Chrome profile. Removing an extension deletes its local data. Web server access logs are kept for a limited period (normally no more than 30 days) and used only to keep the site and feed running and secure. Emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your request.
Your choices and rights
- Clear an extension's data at any time by removing and reinstalling it.
- Disable announcement notifications in Chrome's site and notification settings.
- Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you. In practice that is only correspondence you have sent us — write to us and we will act on it.
Children
Our extensions and website are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If an extension's data handling changes, we will update this page and the effective date above before releasing that version. Material changes will also be noted in the extension's release notes.
