Features
What Dark Mode does
Dark mode on any site
A smart invert + hue-rotate filter that re-inverts photos, videos and canvases so media looks the way it should.
Per-site memory
The mode and tuning you pick for a site is remembered for that hostname only. “Use everywhere” makes it the default for all other sites.
Fine-tuning
Brightness, contrast and sepia sliders that work in both light and dark mode.
Text size & readable font
Scale text from 100 % to 160 % and force a clean sans-serif everywhere except code blocks.
Highlight links
Underline links and add a high-visibility outline so they're impossible to miss.
Comfortable spacing & hide media
Looser line-height, letter and word spacing for easier reading, plus a switch to hide images and video for distraction-free pages.
Under the hood
How it works
No magic, no server. Here's what actually happens when you use it.
- 01
No white flash
The content script runs at document_start and injects a single <style> element built from your settings, so pages load already dark.
- 02
Live restyling
The popup only writes chrome.storage.local. Every open tab listens to storage.onChanged and restyles itself instantly — no messaging needed.
Transparency
Every permission, explained
Chrome shows you a list at install time. This is the list, and why each item is there.
| Permission | Why it's needed |
|---|---|
| storage | Save your per-site and global settings on your device. |
| activeTab | Know which site the popup is tuning. |
| alarms, notifications | Check the TaskGo announcement feed every 6 hours. |
