A website blocker and Pomodoro timer in one.

- Pomodoro timer that keeps running in the background
- Blocklist enforced during focus sessions
- Motivational block page with live countdown
Features
What Focus Mode does
Pomodoro timer
Configurable focus/break lengths (default 25/5). Breaks start automatically after a completed focus session.
Badge & notifications
The toolbar badge shows minutes remaining — red for focus, green for break — and notifications announce each phase change.
Site blocking
Add domains by hand or block the active tab's site in one click. Optionally keep the blocklist on outside sessions too.
Motivational block page
Distracting sites redirect to a glassmorphism page with a rotating quote and a live countdown of your running session.
Local stats
Focus sessions and minutes completed today, stored only on your device.
Under the hood
How it works
No magic, no server. Here's what actually happens when you use it.
- 01
Alarm-driven timer
The timer state machine lives in the background worker and is driven by chrome.alarms, so it keeps running when the popup closes and survives service-worker suspension.
- 02
Dynamic redirect rules
The blocklist is enforced with declarativeNetRequest dynamic redirect rules that are synced whenever a session starts or the list changes.
Transparency
Every permission, explained
Chrome shows you a list at install time. This is the list, and why each item is there.
| Permission | Why it's needed |
|---|---|
| declarativeNetRequest | Redirect blocked sites to the focus page. |
| <all_urls> | Blocking has to apply to whichever sites you add. |
| activeTab | Block the current site with one click. |
| storage | Save your blocklist, timer settings and daily stats. |
| alarms, notifications | Drive the timer and announce phase changes. |
