Print Friendly
Print any web page without ads, sidebars or clutter.
Extracts just the article, strips navigation, ads, comments and cookie banners, and opens a clean paper-style preview you can edit by clicking before printing or saving as PDF.
- Readability extraction of the article only
- Click any block to remove it, Ctrl+Z to undo
- Print or Save as PDF with page-break-safe CSS
Features
What Print Friendly does
Clean print preview
Readability heuristics find <article> or <main> first, then the densest text block, and strip ads, nav, sidebars, comments, cookie banners and social widgets.
Click to remove
Hover highlights any paragraph, image or block in the preview; click deletes it. Undo button or Ctrl+Z.
Typography controls
Text size (A− / A+), serif ↔ sans-serif, images on or off.
Print or Save as PDF
Uses Chrome's print dialog with print CSS that avoids breaking images, headings and code blocks across pages.
Pick & remove on the live page
An in-page picker with hover highlight: click parts of the real page to hide them, then print the page itself. Undo, Restore all, Esc to exit.
Under the hood
How it works
No magic, no server. Here's what actually happens when you use it.
- 01
Injected extractor
The popup injects a self-contained extractor with chrome.scripting.executeScript — activeTab only, no host permissions.
- 02
One-shot hand-off
The result is passed to the preview page through a single storage key that's removed immediately after reading.
- 03
Sanitised re-render
Article HTML is stripped of scripts, inline styles and classes, then re-parsed with DOMParser for a consistent look.
Transparency
Every permission, explained
Chrome shows you a list at install time. This is the list, and why each item is there.
| Permission | Why it's needed |
|---|---|
| activeTab | Read the page you're printing, only when you click. |
| scripting | Inject the extractor and the pick-and-remove picker. |
| storage, unlimitedStorage | Hand large articles to the preview tab. |
| alarms, notifications | Check the TaskGo announcement feed every 6 hours. |
